Oakland students and staff gathered in remembrance of the
events of September 11, 2002. Our own
hero, fifth grade teacher Greg Rice, spoke about his experiences during the
past year as he served and protected our country. He reminded us of just how precious our
freedoms in America are and how we must fight to preserve those
freedoms. Our program also included a
moment of silence, pledging to our flag, singing patriotic songs, and the
release of red, white, and blue balloons into the clear blue sky.
